Mitigating Natural Heat Stress for Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L) Production through Management Techniques

چکیده

An experiment was conducted to identify suitable production management techniques for tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) cultivation during late winter-pre monsoon season in plains of Nepal. For this, organic mulches (rice straw, dried grass, and rice husk) were compared with SN (shade net) no-mulch (bare field) condition yield 2018 2019. The pooled analysis all observed morphological traits performed they differed significantly. Rice husk significantly affected number fruits per inflorescence though plant flowers similar among mulches. highest fruit (4.44 kg plant-1) obtained husk, the other at par but lowest (2.75 no-mulch. Similarly, mulch contributed (5.22), weight (46.58 g) diameter (4.99 cm).Fruit positively associated inflorescence(0.78***), (0.65***) an average (0.56***).Organic (p=0.05) higher (86.01 t ha-1) over (76.55 ha-1).Higher values total soluble solid, Vitamin C firmness under mulching. result present study found mulching as better option condition.

Ethylene is involved in maintaining tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) pollen quality under heat-stress conditions

BACKGROUND AND AIMS Exposure to higher-than-optimal temperatures reduces crop yield and quality, mainly due to sensitivity of developing pollen grains. The mechanisms maintaining high pollen quality under heat-stress conditions are poorly understood. Our recently published data indicate high heat-stress-induced expression of ethylene-responsive genes in tomato pollen, indicating ethylene involv...

Transcriptional profiling of maturing tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) microspores reveals the involvement of heat shock proteins, ROS scavengers, hormones, and sugars in the heat stress response

Above-optimal temperatures reduce yield in tomato largely because of the high heat stress (HS) sensitivity of the developing pollen grains. The high temperature response, especially at this most HS-sensitive stage of the plant, is poorly understood. To obtain an overview of molecular mechanisms underlying the HS response (HSR) of microspores, a detailed transcriptomic analysis of heat-stressed ...

Genetic Diversity in Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) and Its Wild Relatives

Tomato, ranking 1st in the world for vegetables, accounts for 14% of world vegetable production (over 100 million metric tons/year $ 1.6 billion market; (Food and Agriculture Organisation [FAO] 2010). Tomato is a rich source of micronutrients for human diet. It is also an acknowledged model species for research on fruit development and metabolite accumulation. The major goals of tomato breeders...
